Schedule and Shipment Limits

Configure your account to establish carrier schedule, shipment count, and shipment cost limits.

About limits

Your organization may wish to set limits on the amount of shipments processed at a certain origin, or fulfillment center. You also might want to limit the number of shipments a certain carrier will process or the number of shipments processed by selected service methods, or you may desire to set shipping cost limits. If your organization employs tenants in your fulfillment network, you may want to establish certain limits for them as well.

This document provides guidance to establish the following limits:

  • Carrier schedule limits. Better control which carrier is selected to pick up your package from your fulfillment center, when specifying desired delivery date or business days of transit in your carrier selection and/or label generation.
  • Shipment count limits. Help manage shipment capacity by origin, carrier, and service method.
  • Shipment cost limits. Better control shipment costs when specifying desired delivery date or business days of transit in your carrier selection and/or label generation.

Carrier schedule limits

The carrier schedule, which can be used to reduce the amount of packages sitting at your facility overnight or to adhere to a specific shipment's established days of transit, is located in the Shipium Console.

It allows your organization to establish the days of the week and holidays that the carrier is scheduled to pick up from your selected origin. It also enables your organization to set up cutoff times by carrier and/or service method for each day of the week and establish any exceptions to the saved schedule.

Shipment count limits

Shipment count limits, used to establish maximum and minimum shipment limits by origin for each carrier or service method, is located in the Shipium Console. This feature allows your organization to help manage shipment capacity at your established origin by carrier and/or service method.

Shipment cost limits

Shipment cost limits, used to access and set shipment cost limits, is located in the Shipium Console. This feature allows your organization to control shipment costs associated with including a Desired Delivery Date or Business Days of Transit in your API request for an Expected Delivery Date.
