About Shipium's premium shipping platform for ecommerce

Shipium is a premium shipping platform for ecommerce. Our platform coordinates previously disconnected supply-chain steps to help your organization offer your customers faster, cheaper, and more accurate shipping.

Our world-class supply-chain technology bridges your existing frontend systems with backend operations in a way that:

  • reduces costs;
  • empowers a competitive customer experience; and
  • wrangles operational complexity.

Shipium's application programming interface (API)-first approach to services can improve your organization's existing setup or replace whole parts of your system. We optimize important fulfillment processes along the entire supply chain to reduce costs.

Given customers make purchase decisions based on shipping speed and convenience, using Shipium can improve your customers' delivery experiences to increase cart conversion and improve loyalty.

Shipium connects and coordinates key moments in the supply chain. This optimizes upstream decisions and downstream outcomes, for maximum performance. We provide your organization with:

  • coordination of all supply-chain steps in one system;
  • easy product implementation with flexible APIs to fit your existing processes;
  • decisions automated based on stochastic data modeling, not static rules and configurations; and
  • a centralized ecosystem for seamless integration as new features and options are added (e.g., additional carriers for carrier selection).

How Shipium's integrated supply-chain platform works

Our platform features three primary services: Delivery Promise, Fulfillment Engine, and Carrier Selection.

The following diagram outlines steps in the Shipium fulfillment process, beginning with showing your customer a delivery promise on your product description page (PDP) or shopping cart; analyzing inventory in your fulfillment center (FC) network; and selecting the most efficient, cost-effective shipping carrier and delivery method.

Delivery Promise. Make a competitive delivery promise you can keep.

  • Shipium algorithmically models delivery estimates based on several inputs, including fulfillment network, carrier methods, inventory, and parcel properties.
  • Your organization makes an API call to Shipium wherever you want to merchandise a delivery date (e.g., product detail pages or cart checkout workflow).
  • The service returns an estimated date that you display to your customer.

Fulfillment Engine. Intelligently orchestrate orders and shipments.

  • Our fulfillment engine sits at the intersection of existing systems, like your organization's order management system (OMS) and/or warehouse management system (WMS).
  • The service creates a "cart-level fulfillment plan" that manages all decisions for a given order across your network and systems.
  • The system decides which stock-keeping units (SKUs) should be shipped from which nodes based on cost-based optimizations that hit a specific delivery date promise.
  • The fulfillment engine handles split shipments.

Carrier Selection. Cost-based and promise-driven decisions are made automatically.

  • This service immediately ingests with your organization's existing carrier contracts. Shipium does not resell rates at a markup, and only works with customers who have their own relationship with carriers.
  • Carrier selection takes care of all parcel management-level tasks, like label augmentation and manifesting.
  • This feature is context aware of a promised date given to customers, and orients decisions around that constraint. It will choose the cheapest price to hit a given date.
  • The service integrates into the WMS or store-level point of sale (POS) to pass down shipping decisions and labels.
  • Data collection from each selection will provide historical reporting on total costs saved as well as future recommendations of better carrier options.
