Delivery Status Dashboard

Monitor delivery performance for recently shipped packages, track shipment aging, and identify at-risk shipments by carrier, geography, and status.

About the Delivery Status dashboard

The Delivery Status dashboard provides real-time visibility into delivery performance for recently shipped packages, enabling you to monitor delivery rates, identify delays, and proactively address potential service failures. The dashboard tracks shipments from the time they are shipped (using Effective Ship Date as the primary time dimension) through delivery or exception status, with metrics organized into three key areas: critical KPIs (key performance indicators) for overall performance monitoring, age-based analysis to identify at-risk shipments, and dimensional breakdowns by carrier, geography, and detailed status to pinpoint specific problem areas. You can filter data by date range, carrier, carrier method, fulfillment center, tenant, and customer, with timezone selection available to view ship dates in their preferred time zone. This dashboard is designed for operations teams, customer service, and logistics managers who need to track shipment aging, monitor carrier performance, understand geographic delivery challenges, and take action on undelivered or exception shipments before they impact customer satisfaction.

Sections and metrics

Critical Delivery Metrics

This section provides high-level KPI metrics that summarize overall delivery performance and shipment volume for the selected time period and filters.

Percentage Delivered

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric displays the delivery rate as a percentage, calculated by dividing the total number of delivered shipments by the total number of shipments (sum of [delivered_count]/ sum of [shipment_count]). The metric is shown as a KPI with weekly trending via the Effective Ship Date dimension, enabling users to quickly assess whether delivery performance is improving or declining over time. The visualization includes comparison features and a sparkline to show the trend at a glance.

Total Undelivered Shipments

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric shows the total count of shipments that are currently undelivered (not delivered and not in exception status). This is calculated as the sum of undelivered_count aggregated weekly by Effective Ship Date. You should interpret this as the volume of packages still in transit or awaiting delivery, helping identify potential backlogs or delivery delays. Higher values may indicate carrier performance issues or operational challenges that need attention.

Total Shipments

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric displays the total count of all shipments, calculated as the sum of shipment_count aggregated weekly by Effective Ship Date. This serves as the denominator for delivery rate calculations and provides context for the scale of operations. You can use this to understand shipment volume trends and identify peak shipping periods. The KPI includes comparison features to show week-over-week changes in shipping volume.

Delivered Distribution

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric shows the breakdown of all shipments across three delivery status categories:

  • Delivered. Shipments with a delivery timestamp
  • Undelivered. Shipments in transit without exceptions
  • Exception. Shipments with EXPIRED or UNDELIVERABLE tracking status

The metric is displayed as a pie chart showing the proportion of shipments in each category, calculated as the sum of shipment_count grouped by Delivery Status Category. You should interpret this to understand the overall health of deliveries — a healthy operation typically shows a high percentage of delivered shipments with minimal exceptions.

Delivery Rate by Ship Week

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric visualizes the delivery rate as a column chart over time, grouped by week of Effective Ship Date. The primary metric is Delivery Rate (delivered_count / shipment_count), with supporting metrics Total Delivered Count and Total Shipment Count available in tooltips for additional context. You should interpret the height of each column as the delivery success rate for shipments that were shipped in that week, enabling identification of weeks with unusually low delivery performance that may require investigation.

Delivery Rate by Age and Date

This section analyzes delivery performance based on how long ago shipments were sent, helping identify which shipments are at risk of delayed delivery and tracking how delivery rates improve as shipments age.

Delivery Rate by Age Bucket

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric shows delivery rates segmented by Age Bucket categories (0-2 days, 3-5 days, 6-8 days, 9-12 days, 13+ days). Age is calculated as the difference between today and the Effective Ship Date. The metric displays Delivery Rate as a column chart, with Total Shipment Count, Total Delivered Count, and Total Undelivered Count available in tooltips. Users should interpret this to understand how delivery performance changes as shipments age. Typically, delivery rates should increase for older shipments as more time has passed for delivery to occur. Lower delivery rates in older age buckets may indicate chronic delivery problems or lost shipments.

Delivery Rate by Age in Days

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric presents a detailed table view of delivery performance by Age Bucket, including a calculated "Number of Days" metric (sum of diff_days(today, Effective Ship Date) / count of Shipment Count) that shows the average age in days for shipments in each bucket. The table displays Age Bucket, Total Shipment Count, Delivery Rate, Total Delivered Count, Total Undelivered Count, and Number of Days. You should use this table for detailed analysis of delivery performance across age categories, with the Number of Days column providing the actual average age to validate the bucketing. This is particularly useful for identifying the age at which shipments typically get delivered and spotting outliers.

Delivery Status by Date

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric displays a stacked column chart showing the daily breakdown of shipments by delivery status. Each day (based on Effective Ship Date) shows three stacked segments: Undelivered (yellow), Delivered (green), and Exception (red). The metric calculates the sum of undelivered_count, delivered_count, and exception_count for each day. You should interpret the height of each column as the total shipment volume for that day, while the color segments indicate what percentage of those shipments are delivered, still in transit, or experiencing exceptions. This view is particularly useful for identifying specific days with high exception rates or unusual delivery patterns.

Other Delivery Breakdowns

This section provides dimensional breakdowns of delivery performance by carrier, geography, and detailed status categories to help users identify specific problem areas and opportunities for improvement.

Top Carriers by Undelivered Volume

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric displays carriers ranked by their total undelivered shipment count (sum of undelivered_count), sorted in descending order. The column chart shows Total Undelivered Count by Carrier, with Total Delivered Count and Total Shipment Count available for additional context. You should interpret this to identify which carriers have the most shipments currently in transit or delayed. High undelivered volumes may indicate carrier capacity issues, performance problems, or simply that a carrier handles higher overall volumes. Cross-referencing with Total Shipment Count helps determine if high undelivered counts are proportional to the carrier's total volume.

Undelivered Status Breakdown

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric shows the granular breakdown of undelivered shipments by Detailed Undelivered Status (In Transit, Out for Delivery, Awaiting Carrier Scan, On Hold, Exception, Return to Sender, etc.). The visualization excludes Canceled, Delivered, Tracking Error, and Tracking Expired statuses to focus on actionable undelivered categories. The metric displays the sum of undelivered_count for each status as a column chart. You should interpret this to understand the specific stages where shipments are stalled. For example, high volumes in "Awaiting Carrier Scan" may indicate pickup delays, while "On Hold" suggests carrier processing issues that require intervention.

Undelivered Shipments by Destination Country

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric visualizes undelivered shipments on a geographic heat map by destination country. The metric calculates both Total Undelivered Count (sum of [undelivered_count]) and % Undelivered (sum of [undelivered_count] / sum of [shipment_count]) for each country, displayed with a color gradient where darker colors indicate higher undelivered volumes. You should interpret darker regions as countries experiencing higher volumes or rates of undelivered shipments, which may indicate country-specific customs delays, carrier coverage issues, or international shipping challenges. The percentage metric helps normalize for countries with different total shipment volumes.

Undelivered Shipments by State

For the set of filters that have been selected, this metric displays a geographic heat map of undelivered shipments for US destinations only (filtered to Destination Country = 'US'), broken down by state. Similar to the country view, it shows Total Undelivered Count and % Undelivered (sum of [undelivered_count] / sum of [shipment_count]) with a color gradient. You should interpret this to identify specific US states with delivery challenges — darker states indicate either high absolute volumes of undelivered shipments or high undelivered rates relative to total volume. This helps pinpoint regional carrier performance issues, weather-related delays, or areas requiring additional operational focus.
